강타's album "Polaris" is his debut solo album, released on August 16, 2001. It was released following the official disbandment of H.O.T.. Kangta was heavily involved in the production of this album, writing and composing many of the tracks. The album features a variety of genres, including pop ballads, jazz, R&B, and dance.
The title track, \"북극성 (Polaris)\" achieved significant success, topping music show charts. The songs \"북극성 (Polaris)\" and \"오! 그대를 (Falling In Love)\" were featured in KT Magicen CFs, a Korean mobile communication service, with 강타 as the main model. The album achieved impressive sales, surpassing 300,000 copies within a week of release and ultimately reaching 500,000 copies.

Recording took place at S.M. Digital Recording Studio, K.T. studio, Seoul studio, 2gether4ever studio, Booming Sound studio, Vibe studio, GaGa studio, Cool Sound, and 해바라기 studio. KAT, 여두현, and 이성호 served as recording engineers at S.M. Digital Recording Studio. Mixing was done by KAT and 여두현 at S.M. Digital Recording Studio, 박권일 at Vibe studio, 최진우 at Wave studio, and 고승욱 at Lead sound studio. 전훈 handled mastering at Sonic Korea.
